These are the terms you agree to when you use Lá Nua. We've kept them short and in plain English. Using the app means you accept them.
Lá Nua is a personal tracker, not a medical device, and it does not provide medical, clinical, dietary or pharmaceutical advice. The calorie numbers it shows are estimates from general formulas — not a prescription.
Never start, stop or change a medication or its dose based on this app. Its medication feature is only a place to note what you've been prescribed and whether you've taken it. For anything about your health, your weight, your diet or your medication, talk to a doctor, pharmacist or other qualified professional.
If you think you're having a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services.
You must be 18 or older to use Lá Nua. By using it, you confirm that you are. The app is intended for your own personal, non-commercial use.
Lá Nua lets you record a daily weigh-in, note what you eat and how you move, track a medication if you choose to, and keep a short journal. It works out an estimated daily calorie number and draws a trend from what you enter. That's the whole of it — see the note above for what it is not.
You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for what happens under your account. Please give accurate information (your date of birth, height and so on) so the estimates are meaningful — they're only as good as what you put in. Let us know promptly if you think someone else has your sign-in.
Because your health records are end-to-end encrypted, your password is also the key that unlocks them, and we never hold that key. This means we cannot see your records — and it also means that if you lose access we cannot recover them for you. When you set up encryption the app gave you a one-time recovery code; keep it somewhere safe, separate from your password. If you forget your password you can reset it with that code. If you lose both your password and your recovery code, your encrypted records cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. See the Privacy page for how this works.
Everything you put into Lá Nua — your weigh-ins, notes, journal entries and photos — belongs to you. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store it (encrypted, in a form we can't read) and show it back to you, so the app can work. We don't claim ownership of it, and we don't use it for anything other than providing the service to you. See the Privacy page for the detail.

Lá Nua is offered as-is and as-available. It's a small, carefully-made project, not a company with a support desk. We try hard to keep it running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of bugs, and we may change or pause features over time. Keep your own copy of anything you can't afford to lose — you can export your data at any time.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for any loss arising from your use of Lá Nua, including any decision you make about your diet, weight or medication — those decisions are between you and your healthcare professional. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence), and if you use Lá Nua as a consumer, your mandatory legal rights under the law of your country of residence are not affected.
You can stop using Lá Nua and delete your account at any time, from within the app — that removes your data as described in the Privacy page. We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken.
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll change the "last updated" date above, and for significant changes we'll try to tell you in the app. Continuing to use Lá Nua after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts will have jurisdiction — except that, if you use Lá Nua as a consumer elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of your own country.
